The Philippine Football Federation (PFF) has called up 20 players to the Philippine Women’s National Team (PWNT) for the 31st Southeast Asian Games which will be held in Hanoi, Vietnam from 09-21 May 2022.
The Philippines are in Group A with Cambodia and hosts Vietnam. Thailand, Myanmar, Laos, and Singapore comprise Group B. The Filipinas go up against Cambodia on 09 May at 8:00 PM and Vietnam on 11 May, also at 8:00 PM. The Group A matches will be held at Cam Pha Stadium in Quang Ninh, a province east of Hanoi.
Head coach Alen Stajcic has selected goalkeepers Inna Kristianne Palacios and Olivia McDaniel. Veterans Tahnai Rivera Annis, Anicka Castaneda, Hali Long, Eva Madarang, Jessica Miclat, Camille Rodriguez, Sarina Bolden, Quinley Quezada, Alisha del Campo, along with Ryley Bugay, Malea Cesar, Isabella Flanigan, Carleigh Frilles, Dominique Randle, and Sofia Harrison. Joining the Filipinas in competition for the first time are Kaya Hawkinson, Chantelle Maniti, and Jaclyn Sawicki.
Coming from their historic run in the AFC Women’s Asian Cup in January, the Filipinas returned to training last April with a month-long camp in Sydney, Australia. Friendlies against Fiji and Tonga were part of the preparations for the Southeast Asian Games.
Joining Stajcic in the coaching staff are assistant coach Nahuel Arrarte, goalkeeping coach James Fraser, and strength and conditioning coach Luca Tonetti.
PFF Women’s Committee co-chairperson Jefferson Cheng is the Team Manager. The team is also supported by the Philippine Sports Commission, MVP Sports Foundation.
