2nd QFA-AFF Digital Learning Seminar wraps up

The Qatar Football Association (QFA) and the ASEAN Football Federation (AFF), in partnership with the Josoor Institute, concluded their 2nd QFA-AFF Digital Learning Seminar which was held from 23-25 February 2021.

The aim of the webinar was to raise awareness of – and to combat – fraud, match fixing, and illegal betting activities that distort the integrity of football.

This was the second webinar to be conducted by QFA as part of its cooperation with AFF and its need to share knowledge on the latest developments in the field of fraud detection.

“It was a great opportunity to join the three-day Webinar and to learn from the most knowledgeable and experienced speakers who discussed matters on Football Integrity, Maximizing the involvement of Private and Public sectors in the Sport, and Health, Safety and Security of International Competition in this time of pandemic,” said PFF Grassroots head David Javellana, who was one of the PFF’s attendees in the webinar. ”It also highlights the importance of instilling values to the players, coaches and stakeholders and working towards a program that would maintain the integrity of the game.”

The 12 AFF Member Associations attended the webinars which covered the importance of understanding the global impact of match fixing, the security and safety of sporting events, and the application of the ‘medical bubble’ system and hosting of the AFC Champions League under exceptional circumstances.

“We thank Qatar Football Association and ASEAN Football Federation for their commitment to restrengthen Member Associations through this webinar,” said PFF general secretary Atty. Edwin Gastanes. “The insights gained from these sessions will go a long way once it is safe to conduct football activities under the new normal.”
