UAAP Teams shine in 1st PFF all-women tourney

The 1st Philippine Football Federation (PFF) Women’s Cup 2014 kicked off with wins from Far Eastern University (FEU), the University of the Philippines (UP) and budding club team Chelsea Football Club Soccer School Philippines.

The UP Lady Booters outclassed the College of Saint Benilde (CSB) booters 7-0 in the tournament’s opening match. UP’s Cristina delos Reyes opened goal scoring with a brace on the 10th and 12th minutes, while teammate Christille Ardiente also bagged a brace in the 16th and 21st minutes. Natalie Nisce opened the 2nd half with a 5-0 scoreline in the 32nd minute. Aira Agustin bagged her own brace in the 37th and 51st minutes to complete the 7-0 blanking of the neophyte CSB team.

In the league’s remaining matches, The reigning UAAP Champions FEU Lady Tamaraws blanked the Green Archers United (GAU) Lady Booters 2-0, with goals from Jovelle Sudaria and Charmaine Fagaragan in the 13th and 26th minutes respectively. FEU’s Annalou Amita was also given a yellow card for sliding behind an attacking GAU striker on the 21st minute.

Chelsea FC snuck past rival Sikat FC 1-0 in an action-packed battle between these two club teams. Multi-awarded UAAP veteran Mary Ignacio headed in the match’s lone goal in the 47th minute. Sikat failed to score an equalizer after Marice Magdolot missed a penalty kick at the end of the second half.

Meanwhile, the University of Santo Tomas Lady Tigresses were granted a 3-0 default win due to the non-appearance of Loyola FC.
