Philippine Football Federation (PFF) delegates led by general secretary Atty. Edwin Gastanes and PFF vice president Joselito Pinol attended both the AFC Extraordinary Congress and the 69th FIFA Congress over the past two days in Paris, France.
PFF president Mariano Araneta, Jr. attended as member of the AFC Executive Committee and FIFA Council.
The AFC Extraordinary Congress held last 04 June 2019 saw the conferment of China PR as the host of the AFC Asian Cup 2023. It will be China PR’s second hosting of the Asian Cup after 2004.
AFC Member Associations also approved the nominations of the chairpersons, deputy chairpersons, and members of the AFC Judicial Bodies namely: AFC Disciplinary and Ethics Committee, AFC Entry Control Body, and AFC Appeal Committee.
The 69th FIFA Congress, which was held ahead of the FIFA Women’s World Cup France 2019, last 05 June 2019 saw the 211 FIFA Member Associations re-elect Gianni Infantino as FIFA president for the term 2019-2023 by acclamation. It will be Infantino’s second term as FIFA president having served for the term 2016-2019.
Other matters discussed during the FIFA Congress was the approval of the FIFA Activity Report for 2018, FIFA Financial Statements for 2018, and FIFA budget for 2020.
