FIFA Coach Educators Development Pathway held in Manila

To underscore FIFA’s goal for every Member Associations to develop its very own coaching educators, FIFA successfully conducted the FIFA/AFC Regional Pathway Coach Educators’ Development workshop last 24-28 April 2023 in Manila.

The course was a blended program catered to coaching educators from the ASEAN Region. The key aim of the course was for MA’s to improve the standard of its coaching education, become self-reliant, and maximize talent development in their respective areas based on FIFA’s coaching development philosophy that is football-driven, learner-centered, competence-based, and context-dependent.

Prior to the workshop, the participants underwent online education seminars in preparation for the on-site activities. The 5-day course consisted of practical and theory sessions with the Rizal Memorial Stadium football field in Manila and the Sofitel Hotel in Pasay City as the venues for the practical and theory sessions.

The coaching instructors were the following:

Savio Piedade – FIFA Technical Consultant
Jose Ariston Caslib – FIFA Regional Technical Consultant

PFF president and FIFA Council Member Mariano Araneta, Jr. met with the participants on the fourth day of the workshop and hailed their commitment as coaching educators in their respective countries.

“Coaches are individuals that can make a difference in the lives of players and other coaches, and coaching educators are instrumental to ensure that development of quality coaches that will mentor the players,” said Araneta. “We thank all the participants that attended the FIFA/AFC Coach Educators’ Development Workshop and we hoped that the educators are able to apply their learnings when they return to their countries.”
