Philippines 2-3 Chinese Taipei

The Philippine Men’s National Team dropped to Chinese Taipei, 2-3, in last night’s friendly match at the Rizal Memorial Football Stadium in Manila.

Coming off the win against Nepal last Thursday, the Philippines were primed to make it two-for-two against their East Asian rivals. However, a late goal from Ming-wei Ling allowed the visitors to take the win despite the Philippines already ahead at the half.

Wu Yen-shu gave Chinese Taipei the early lead inside the first minute of the match, but a Mike Ott penalty and a Patrick Reichelt strike allowed the Philippines to go 2-1 up.

However, Weh-Chieh Pan forced another equalizer in the 57th minute allowing the visitors to complete the comeback.

“It was an absolute deserved win for Chinese Taipei,” said Philippines head coach Michael Weiss. “Nevertheless, I think the potential is really there. If this group is fit, if these players who had to pull out last minute (return), we’ll see a different group.”
