Powerhouse performances and late-match heroics highlighted the latest round of the PFF Futsaliga, presented by the Philippine Sports Commission (PSC), last Sunday, March 8, at the Philsports Arena, as the Women’s and Men’s divisions continued their campaign.
Beach Hut FC and the Far Eastern University (FEU) Lady Tamaraws remained perfect in the Women’s Division, while the Azkals Development Club (ADC) asserted their dominance in the Men’s Division alongside gritty wins from the Philippine Women’s University (PWU) and the University of Asia and the Pacific (UA&P).
Women’s Division
Beach Hut 6, Forza FC 0
Beach Hut FC opened the day in commanding fashion with a 6–0 victory over Forza FC. Jonela Albiño showcased her UAAP MVP form, leading the charge and earning Player of the Match honors.
Far Eastern University 3, Enderun College 0
The FEU Lady Tamaraws continued their strong start in the competition, blanking Enderun College 3–0 for their second straight win.
Despite the addition of Filipina5 athlete Vrendelle Nuera to the Enderun lineup, FEU maintained control of the match, with fellow Filipina5 standout Regine Rebosura spearheading the Lady Tamaraws’ attack.
Azkals Development Club 3, Azzurri SC 0
The Azkals Development Club (ADC) finally bounced back with a 3–0 victory over Azzurri SC. Veteran leadership from former national futsal team player Hazel Lustan proved decisive, as she steered ADC to victory and earned Player of the Match honors.
University of Makati 3, Philippine Women’s University 0
The University of Makati (UMak) closed Matchday 2 with a hard-fought 3–0 win over rival Philippine Women’s University (PWU) in a physical encounter.
UMak’s Taif Salama demonstrated leadership and composure in the crucial victory. The match was particularly tense in the first half when PWU veteran Allyxa Lucero was sent off after receiving two yellow cards.
UMak team manager Ramon Almeda praised the professional setup of the competition:
We’ve always been involved with futsal and played in other leagues as well. The venue is fantastic, and the way it’s handled gives players a feel of a more professional environment. I keep telling the players this is not just a weekend festival—there are protocols and standards to follow. I’m happy the PFF and NCRFA launched this league, and I’m glad to support it.
Standings update: Beach Hut and FEU remain the only unbeaten teams with six points, while ADC, Azzurri, and UMak share the middle of the standings with three points each.
Men’s Division
Enderun College 5, University of Makati 1
Enderun College bounced back strongly with a 5–1 win over the University of Makati. Theo Appiah ignited Enderun’s second-half surge with a hat trick, powering the team to a convincing victory.
University of Asia and the Pacific 4, Tondo FC 3
Fans were treated to a thrilling contest as UA&P edged Tondo FC, 4–3. Team captain James Benedict Rufin delivered a brace, while Paul de Chavez made a crucial save on Tondo’s last-minute strike by MJ Libre to secure the win.
Philippine Women’s University 4, PUP Radicals 3
The Philippine Women’s University pulled off another dramatic finish, defeating the Polytechnic University of the Philippines (PUP) Radicals, 4–3, thanks to a last-minute winner from Jerrimy Inventor.
Inventor described the intensity of the match:
It was super intense. The score kept changing, but in the end we still won. As captain, in the last minute I gave my best and told the team we just had to defend until the final whistle.
Azkals Development Club 15, Sporting QC 1
The Azkals Development Club capped the matchday with a dominant 15–1 victory over Sporting QC.
Christian Gabriel Vendiola once again led the scoring barrage with four goals, earning his second straight Player of the Match award and reinforcing ADC’s status as a title contender.
Standings update: ADC’s dominant form, along with the clutch performances from UA&P and PWU, place all three teams jointly at the top of the standings with six points, while Tondo FC and Enderun College remain close behind with three points each.
