SURABAYA – The Philippine under-17 men’s national football team (PMNFT U17) is currently in Indonesia to compete in the 2026 ASEAN Under-17 Boys’ Championship from April 11 to 24, 2026.
Coached by Spanish gaffer Joan Segura Farre and assisted by Filipino coaches Mark Hilay and Ryan Fermin, the Philippines will compete in Group B with 2024 runner-up Thailand, Myanmar, and Laos.
Head coach Segura, 36, is a UEFA Pro Licensed coach accredited by the Royal Spanish Football Federation and is concurrently the technical advisor of the Negros Occidental Regional Football Association (NORFA). Assistant coach Hilay is also a grassroots coach in NORFA while fellow assistant Fermin is the current head coach of PAREF Southridge Admirals and assistant coach of the UP Fighting Maroons.
Segura expressed his optimism for the national team ahead of tomorrow’s game versus Thailand, saying:
The team is ready for tomorrow, the first game against Thailand, respect for them, the players are ready mentally and physically and we will show our best version on the field if you want to get the three points.
