The Philippine Under-16 Team finished their AFF U16 Championship 2018 with a 4-1 loss to Timor Leste in their final Group A match last Monday 6 August 2018 at the Joko Samudro Stadium.
Antoine Ortega gave the Philippines a much needed lifeline with the opening goal in the 22nd minute to lead 1-0 at the half. 
However Timor Leste mounted a second half comeback scoring in the 44th, 51st, 53rd, and 55th minutes to claim the win.
The team, led by coach Reiji Hirata, finished the elimination round in sixth place.
“We thank the Philippine Under-16 team led by Coach Reiji Hirata for their spirited efforts during the AFF U16 Championship 2018 in Surabaya, Indonesia,” said PFF general secretary Atty. Edwin Gastanes. “This has been a tough assignment for the team, but rest assured that these are all valuable learning experiences for the team as they make their way up the ranks.”
