Ceres Negros Chases AFC Cup Knockout Berth; Global Cebu Fights for Survival

Philippines Football League sides Ceres Negros FC and Global Cebu FC are on contrasting sides as they continue their AFC Cup campaign today 11 April 2018.

Ceres Negros face Cambodian side Boeung Ket Angkor at the National Olympic Stadium in Phnom Penh, Cambodia. Kickoff for the match is at 6:30 PM local time (7:30 PM Manila time).

The Negros side leads Group F with 10 points after 4 matches and a win for the defending PFL champions will almost ensure qualification to the knockout stages.

In their first meeting at the Pana-ad Park and Football Stadium in Bacolod last 13 February 2018, Ceres Negros recorded their biggest win in the tournament with a 9-0 beatdown of the Cambodian side.

“The game against Beoung Ket is very important,” said Ceres Negros midfielder Kevin Ingreso. “I hope we can get a good result as it will bring us closer to the next round.”

On the other hand, Global Cebu, hope to avoid elimination when they face FLC Thanh Hoa of Vietnam at the Rizal Memorial Stadium in Manila. Kickoff is at 7:30 PM.

The Cebu-based side won their last match against Yangon United, 2-1, and will look to recover lost ground against the Vietnamese side. Global are at the bottom of Group G with 4 points after 4 matches

Their last meeting against Thanh Hoa saw the home team win 1-0 at the My Dinh Stadium in Hanoi Vietnam.
