Overview:
Responsible for the successful implementation of the projects, assigned by the Chief Operations Officer, at a timely and at – or above benchmark level according to the set strategy and objectives.
Ensure all necessary resources to guarantee an efficient and high quality delivery of services by the Tournament Operations sub-division to all relevant target groups.
Act as ‘centre of competence’ on any relevant strategical developments (actual or future) in the (sport) event industry for your areas towards the Chief Officer and the other sub-divisions and act as a true role model in representing your function internally and towards external partners.
Jointly with the other Director’s take the responsibility for the overall result and always act with big picture in mind.
Key Responsibilities:
- Runs the Venue Management, Corporate Events, Media Operations, Maps & Drawings, Technical Service & Overlay, Accreditation and Ceremonies Projects & manages the Operations sub-division team.
- Establish an appropriate operational structure and effective processes and polices for the sub-division and its tasks.
- Implement an inclusive and well-functioning (Venue) Operations Management where stakeholder needs are collected, arbitrated and implemented in a cost-effective and adequate manner.
- Co-ordinate with host cities, public authorities, public transport, police, emergency services and stadia management in order to ensure the smooth running of each venue.
- Ensures high quality Match Organisation in terms of Infrastructure, Pitch and Logistics in conjunction with the Competitions and Tournaments sub-divisions.
- Plan, manage and implement a good quality and cost-efficient on-site support/service & operations for Media/TV in conjunction with the departments concerned.
- Co-ordinate and provision an efficient, good quality, safe and industry proven power and other technical services and overlay installations, as well as good quality and consistent Maps & Drawings.
- Implement a robust and transparent Accreditation system, which focuses on simplification and ease-of-use.
- Oversee the operational activities of the FIFA Commercial division, mainly:
- Implementing a high quality and creative pre-tournament events, especially Logo Launch, Qualifying and Final Draw etc., which represents well the brand strategy, FIFA and the Host Country.
- Providing suitable commercial display areas for our commercial partners.
- Creating and implement creative, good quality ceremonies, pre-match entertainment programme at the stadium – on-pitch, giant screens, CATV and public announcement system.
- Implement the agreed integral project plan according the set milestones for all of the above projects concerned.
- Timely follow and deliver at the requested standard concepts for the respective Projects, general administration, reporting and Knowledge Management & Debrief.
- Follows the trends of the industry to be ready to anticipate changes in your sectors concerned on time.
Qualifications and Experience:
- A minimum experience of 10 years in sport/event organisation, or in a mega project preferably a world class football event
- University degree in appropriate subject (or adequate training/vocational education)
- Experience in international sports / event management
- Knowledge of even planning and event project management processes
- Experience or knowledge of local culture will be an added benefit
- Strong IT skill including MS Office (Word, Excel, Visio, PowerPoint)
- Fluency in English and other languages are an added benefit
- Proven track record in managing complex projects, preferably international sports events.
- Minimum of 8 years managing teams within the sports/event organisation

- Experience of managing multi-disciplined teams across a variety of business areas
- Experience in Tournament management
