Event Services Director

Overview:

Responsible for the successful implementation of the projects, assigned by the Chief Operations Officer, at a timely and at – or above benchmark level according to the set strategy and objectives.

Ensure all necessary resources to guarantee an efficient and high quality build-up of the Services sub-division and oversees the Services team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • The Event Services Director has the overall responsibility for the successful operational implementation during all FIFA’s Tournaments and events of the following projects:
    • Accommodation
    • Event Transport
    • Guest Experience
  • The Event Services Director will work in close collaboration with all relevant departments and divisions within FIFA. This includes ensuring that the appropriate conditions are provided together with relevant FIFA stakeholders, stadium/venue owners, host associations, LOC’s, local authorities and third-party entities.
  • The Event Services Director will continuously review and make recommendations to improve the requirements and regulations of above-mentioned projects and will oversee and integrate them in the Master Project Plans and detailed budgets in order to ensure the requirements of all relevant stakeholders are aligned and delivered in a cost effective manner for each tournament and event.
  • The Event Services Director is the key point of reference for the Chief Operations Officer on all Event Services matters and shall actively represent him on different occasions.
  • Act as ‘centre of competence’ on any relevant strategical developments (actual or future) in the (sport) event industry for your areas and act as a true role model in representing your function internally and towards external partners.
  • Jointly with the other Director’s take the responsibility for the overall result and always act with the big picture in mind and in align planning and objectives
  • Runs the administration of the Services sub-Division and manages the Services sub-division team.
  • Drafts and implements efficient project plans and procedures for all the tournaments and events where applicable in cooperation with the other sub-divisions.
  • Ensures that relevant FIFA procedures and directives are applied within the sub-Division.

Qualifications and Experience

  • A minimum experience of 10 years within the Event Services business area
  • University degree in appropriate subject (or adequate training/vocational education)
  • Experience in international sports / event management
  • Knowledge of even planning and event project management processes
  • Experience or knowledge of local culture will be an added benefit
  • Strong IT skill including MS Office (Word, Excel, Visio, PowerPoint)
  • Fluency in English and other languages are an added benefit
  • Proven track record in managing complex projects, preferably international sports events.
  • Minimum of 8 years managing teams within the Event Services business area
  • Proven management experience of complex projects
  • Specialised qualifications within Event Services business area
  • Project management certification
  • Experience of managing multi-disciplined teams across a variety of business areas
  • Experience in Tournament management
