FEU upends Kaya; Manila Digger remain unbeaten in PFF Women’s League

PFF Women’s Cup champions Far Eastern University claimed a famous result against Kaya FC-Iloilo after a 4-0 win last Saturday at the PFF National Training Center in Carmona, Cavite.

Carmela Altiche opened the scoring for FEU in the second minute. An errant back pass by the Kaya defense allowed Dionesa Tolentin to burst free to the box, only for her shot to be saved. However, Altiche was at the right place at the right time to slot the opener.

Tolentin added the second six minutes later. From the counter-attack, the FEU skipper finished it with a shot towards the far post.

Sarahgen Tulabing made it 3-0 in the 29th minute with an attempt from just the top of the box to put FEU up 3-0 at the half before Tolentin sealed the match with her second and FEU’s fourth in the 65th minute.

The second match saw Manila Digger FC stretch their lead at the top with a 3-0 win over Azzurri SC.

Roselle Lecera’s 20th minute effort got the ball rolling for Manila Digger, before Candida Quarshie had a quick-fire brace in the 23rd and 29th minutes to extend their run to three straight wins.

Tempers flared in the match however as Manila Digger’s Kaye Ysola as well as Azzurri’s Jovyl Dosado and Carla Santos were sent off after an altercation near the touchline.
