Filipina5 in Spain for intensive camp ahead of FFWWC

BARCELONA – The Philippine women’s national futsal team, dubbed as the Filipina5, is setting its sights on the world stage in its two-week training camp in Barcelona and Madrid, Spain, from October 29 to November 11, 2025.

This will be the team’s final training camp before the country hosts the historic 2025 FIFA Futsal Women’s World Cup (FFWWC) in Pasig City, kicking off on November 21.

The Spain training camp represents a bold step forward in the Philippine Football Federation’s (PFF) commitment to develop elite-level futsal and empower women athletes to compete with the world’s best. During the two-week program, the Filipina5 will undergo intensive training sessions, gain exposure to Spain’s top futsal leagues, and test their mettle in four international friendlies—three against elite Spanish clubs and one against the Spain women’s national futsal team.

Their match schedule will see them face AE Les Corts (November 2), FS Sabadell (November 5), Esportiu Rubi (November 6), and culminate with a high-profile clash against the Spain national team (November 8).

For the Filipina5, competing in Spain — a global hub of football and futsal excellence— gives the team invaluable experience against world-class opponents.

PFF President John Anthony Gutierrez underscored the significance of the camp, calling it a transformative opportunity for the players and for Philippine futsal as a whole.

“This camp is the perfect stage for our team to grow stronger—technically, tactically, and mentally,” Gutierrez said. “By training and playing against some of the best clubs and national teams in Europe, our players will gain the confidence and experience they need to perform fearlessly when the World Cup begins on home soil.”

The 2025 FIFA Futsal Women’s World Cup will be a momentous occasion for Philippine sports, marking the country’s first time hosting a FIFA World Cup. The PhilSports Arena in Pasig City will serve as the centerpiece of the tournament, welcoming top women’s futsal nations from across the globe.

Gutierrez emphasized that the Philippines’ hosting of the event is not just about showcasing the sport, but about “inspiring a generation.”

“Hosting the World Cup is about pride, passion, and creating heroes that young Filipinos can look up to,” he shared. “Every goal, every save, every moment on the court is a message that our nation belongs on the world futsal map.

The Spain camp, he added, will help the team enter the World Cup with sharper skills, stronger team chemistry, and the hunger to compete at the highest level.

“Our Filipina5 are working tirelessly to represent the flag with honor,” Gutierrez said. “We are calling on every Filipino fan to rally behind them. Let’s fill the arenas in Pasig, let’s make them feel that this is our home, our pride, our moment.”

Under the PFF’s futsal development roadmap, the Filipina5 program aims to create a sustainable national team structure while promoting futsal as an accessible, exciting sport for Filipinos of all ages. The Spain training camp is part of this long-term vision—building a team not only for the 2025 World Cup, but for the future of Philippine futsal.

The camp will include daily tactical sessions, strength and conditioning programs, and video analysis, all designed to enhance the players’ technical proficiency and understanding of high-tempo futsal. Exposure to Spain’s professional futsal environment is expected to accelerate the team’s growth and foster the competitive mindset needed for world-class play.

Gutierrez affirmed: “What the Filipina5 learn in Spain, they will bring home and share with the next generation of players. This is how we grow the game.”

The Filipina5’s Spain camp marks the final leg of their preparation before they make history in Pasig City. As they face Europe’s finest and bring home lessons from the global futsal capital, one thing is clear: the Philippines is ready to shine on the world stage.
