La Salle Finishes PFF Women’s League First Round On Top

League leaders De La Salle University swept the first round of the PFF Women’s League with an impressive 6-1 win over Green Archers United last Sunday, 2 July 2017, at the Rizal Memorial Stadium.

Forward Alisha Del Campo put the Archers ahead in the 22nd minute. However, La Salle turned on their afterburners late in the first half, scoring six goals. La Salle players Kyra Dimaandal and Nina Arrieta scored twice, while Chelo Hodges and Kyla Inquig added a goal each for the leaders.

It was La Salle’s ninth straight win in the Women’s League, giving them 27 points, which is 10 points clear of second placed Far Eastern University.

FEU ended up in second place after beating The Younghusband Football Academy, 6-0, last Saturday 1 July 2017. Joyce Onrubia netted a hat-trick while Mary Lam, Bia Requerme, and Kaye Ysola also provided goals for the Tamaraws.

Ateneo de Manila University collected four points after playing back-to-back games this weekend. Ateneo defeated Fuego Espana, 2-0, last Saturday after players Pam Diaz and Tessa Bernardo scored in late on in both halves. Ateneo’s second game last Sunday saw them draw Outkast FC, 2-2. Ateneo’s Camille Rodriguez and Outkast’s Alesa Dolino scored twice for their teams.
