PFF Advisory: Postponement of AFC Competitions for March and April 2020

In view of the current global restrictions imposed due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) has decided to postpone ALL MATCHES/COMPETITIONS scheduled in March and April 2020 until further notice.

Initially, FIFA and AFC have postponed the scheduled Preliminary Joint Qualification Round 2 matches scheduled in March and June 2020.

However, having taking in consideration the health and safety of the Asian football community, and requests received from clubs competing in the AFC Cup, the AFC has also acted to postpone the AFC Cup 2020 group stage matches where Philippines Football League clubs Ceres-Negros FC and Kaya FC-Iloilo are participating in.

Currently, the Philippines is under the state of calamity, with the island of Luzon, where AFC Cup matches are played at the Rizal Memorial Football Stadium in Manila, under the Enhanced Community Quarantine which prohibits mass gatherings and observes a strict home quarantine.

Among the matches affected are the following:

Ceres-Negros FC matches:

  • 14 April 2020 – Bali United (IDN) vs. Ceres-Negros FC (PHI)
  • 29 April 2020 – Phan Khan Reach Svay Rieng FC (CAM) vs. Ceres-Negros FC (PHI)

Kaya FC-Iloilo matches:

  • 15 April 2020 – Kaya FC-Iloilo (PHI) vs. PSM Makasaar (IDN)
  • 28 April 2020 – Kaya FC-Iloilo (PHI) vs. Shan United FC (MYA)

PFF continues to urge the general public, all football stakeholders, and fans to take all necessary health and safety precautions in combating the spread of COVID-19.
