PFF Advisory Update: Enhanced Safety for Football Activities During Extreme Heat

The Philippine Football Federation reiterates its reminder for all Regional Football Associations

(RFA’s) to refrain from conducting sanctioned football matches and tournaments during hours with extreme heat from 9AM to 3PM for the safety of all players until further advised.

The PFF recommends that the RFA’s decide on the conduct of football activities with caution given the heat index in their respective areas.

All football stakeholders are encouraged to only participate in football activities sanctioned by the PFF or RFAs to ensure that proper safeguards are in place and that these are managed by organizers accredited by PFF or RFA.

As previously communicated, please be guided with the following:

1. Matches played in extreme heat (above 32o) should have cooling breaks or may be called off

as deemed necessary by Match Organizers for the safety of the participants; and Match Organizers (at all levels) should have adequate medical provisions which include: (i)

availability of an ambulance on-site; and, (ii) adequately trained responders/personnel

including equipment capable for life resuscitation/life support, e.g. automated external defibrillator (AED).

2. PFF also strongly recommends to ensure that medical clearances are obtained from players,

especially grassroots and non-professional, prior to participation in the said event.

PFF will strictly monitor compliance with these safety measures, and failure to adhere may lead to penalties, including the suspension of event sanctions.

For further information or to communicate any concerns, please contact the PFF Medical

Department or Safety Officer directly.

Thank you for your continued cooperation in prioritizing the well-being of all football participants.
