PFF commends PWFA for successful Women’s Futsal Cup won by Capital 1

The Philippine Football Federation (PFF) commended the Philippine Women’s Football Association (PWFA) for the successful staging of the PAGSS Women’s Futsal Cup on Sunday at the University of Asia and the Pacific (UA&P).

The day-long tournament was attended by PFF President John Anthony Gutierrez, PFF Executive Committee Female Member Belay Fernando, and Philippine Women’s National Futsal Team Head Coach Rafa Merino. Also in attendance were PAGSS AVP for Corporate Affairs and Head of Administration Lisette Marques, Giligan’s Restaurant Chief Executive Officer Filbert Alquiros, Henry Moran Foundation president Danny Moran, and the University of Asia and the Pacific Department of Physical Education Instructor Paul Encarnacion.

Capital1 Solar Strikers were named champion of the tournament, after nipping runner-up Kaya F.C.-Iloilo, 1-0, in the final.

The Solar Strikers’ Regine Rebosura, a standout of the Philippine women’s national futsal team and Women’s Futsal Asian Cup veteran, was named tournament Most Valuable Player (MVP)

“Congratulations to Capital 1 Solar Strikers for winning the crown and to their star player, our very own Regine Rebosura of the Filipina5 for winning MVP. Your futsal journey to the national and international arena serves as an inspiration for young Filipinos to pursue playing the beautiful game,” Gutierrez said.

Makati Football Club, led by Cebuana teenage sensation and Mythical 5 member Yona de la Calzada, won the bronze medal.

National team standout Maye Mendaño of Kaya-Iloilo, Yasmin Elauria of Capital1, and Regina Aliping of Azzuri F.C., were also named in the Mythical 5.

The tournament also featured seven other teams: Azzuri F.C, Caramia F.C., Pinay5, Philippine Women’s University, Forza F.C., Beach Hut F.C., and Enderun College.
