PFF praises gov’t support for FIFA Futsal World Cup hosting through PSC-led IATF

“We at the Philippine Football Federation (PFF) express our sincerest gratitude to President Bongbong Marcos for mobilizing the Philippine government–through the creation of the Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF)–to support our country’s hosting of the inaugural FIFA Women’s Futsal World Cup in November. IATF, led by the Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) under the leadership of Chair Patrick Gregorio. This Administrative Order is instrumental in boosting our preparations for this historic tournament and making it a successful one for our country and for the world.”
“This support signifies the commitment of the Philippine government to support all sports, and to make the Philippines a world class hub for sports tourism, as advocated by PSC Chair Pato Gregorio. For our part, PFF commits to perform its work with utmost dedication and excellence toward a memorable FIFA Futsal Women’s World Cup.“ – PFF President John Anthony Gutierrez
The Philippines’ historic hosting of the FIFA Futsal Women’s World Cup (FFWWC) 2025 got a major boost from the Philippine government as President Ferdinand Marcos, Jr., ordered the creation of an Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF).
On July 30, 2025, Malacañang released Administrative Order (AO) No. 35, “Constituting An Inter-Agency Task Force for the Hosting of the Federation Internationale De Football
Association (FIFA) Futsal Women’s World Cup 2025, And Directing All Government Agencies and Instrumentalities and Encouraging Local Government Units and the Private Sector to Render Support Thereto.”
This timely government support was a culmination of proactive planning, discussions, engagements, and organizing efforts spearheaded by PFF, along with FIFA, PSC, and the local governments of co-hosts Pasig City and Victorias City.
AO No. 35 stated, “The hosting of the FFWWC 2025 aims to advance the development of futsal in the country, inspire greater sports engagement among Filipinos, elevate the Philippines’ standing in the international sports arena, and generate economic and tourism opportunities through a globally recognized event.” Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin signed the AO which takes effect immediately.
PFF President John Gutierrez welcomed the development and expressed his thanks to the Philippine government. “This Administrative Order is a big step forward to the successful hosting of the first-ever FIFA Futsal Women’s World Cup 2025, and a big step forward for Philippine sports and global women’s sports in general. We in the PFF are grateful to the Office of the President, the Office of the Executive Secretary and the Philippine Sports Commission for their extensive support.”
The FFWWC 2025 IATF will be the central coordinating body for the preparation of the global competition scheduled on November 21 to December 7, 2025. The multi-agency task force will be chaired by PSC, which will also serve as the Secretariat while the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) as Vice-Chair, and the departments of Tourism, Foreign Affairs, Finance, Budget and Management, Health, Information and Communications Technology, Public Works and Highways, Transportation, Presidential Communications Office, and Philippine National Police, Bureau of Immigration, and Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA) as members.
PFF, which secured the hosting bid from FIFA last May 2024, will be working closely with the IATF to ensure that the FFWWC Philippines 2025 would be smooth, successful and a showcase of the Philippines’ hospitable and bayanihan (community) spirit.
Aside from host country the Philippines, 15 of the world’s best women’s teams will compete to be the first FFWWC champions including Iran, Argentina, Brazil, Canada, Colombia, Italy, Morocco, New Zealand, Panama, Poland, Portugal, Spain and Tanzania.
