Philippine Football Federation Announces Riccardo Marchioli as New Assistant Coach for Women’s National Team, Bolstering Strategic Depth and High-Performance Pedigree

“We would like to welcome a new and valuable addition to the Filipinas’ coaching staff, Riccardo Marchioli. Riccardo’s unique blend of experience – from contributing to an Olympic gold medal to his hands-on success in building and transforming football programs – is exactly what we need as we continue our ambitious journey. His understanding of high-stakes environments and his commitment to cultural excellence will be a tremendous asset to the Filipinas,” said PFF President John Gutierrez.

The Philippine Football Federation is proud to announce the appointment of Riccardo Marchioli as the new Assistant Coach for the Philippine Women’s National Football Team. Marchioli’s appointment is set to significantly enhance the Filipinas’ strategic capabilities, bringing a wealth of elite-level experience and a fresh perspective cultivated across diverse high-performance environments.

Riccardo Marchioli arrives with an impressive array of credentials, holding an A License from the Asian Football Confederation and diplomas in Managerial Economics and Sport Development.

His expertise is deeply rooted in strategic leadership, high-performance coaching, and a keen understanding of talent development. Notably, Marchioli is adept in data analysis, KPIs & tactical intelligence, and has a strong foundation in AI & technology integration, skills that promise to bring an analytical edge to the team’s preparations.

Among his most significant achievements, Marchioli’s scouting contributions played a role in the USA Women’s Team securing an Olympic Gold Medal at the 2024 Paris Olympics. He was also instrumental in the Newcastle Jets becoming Champions & Premiers with an exceptionally young NPL squad, boasting an average age of just 17.5 years. Furthermore, he successfully built a championship-winning women’s program from its inception, demonstrating his ability to cultivate success from the ground up. His track record also includes leading cultural change projects at the A-League level and designing club-wide football philosophies across multiple organizations.

Marchioli’s professional journey is marked by a series of impactful roles. He recently served as Senior Football Head Coach for Hume City Football Club , and as an International Football Scout for the USA Women’s National Team during their triumphant Paris Olympics campaign. His experience extends to Head Coach & Manager for Bentleigh Greens Soccer Club , and a pivotal tenure with the Newcastle Jets Football Club, where he was A-League Assistant Coach, A-League Youth Head Coach & Academy Director, and A-League Head of Analysis & Individual Development Coach. Before that, he was A-League Head of Analysis for Melbourne Victory Football Club and General Manager & Head Coach for Brunswick City Soccer Club, where he not only established a comprehensive club-wide philosophy but also built a championship-winning women’s team.

Head Coach Mark Torcaso echoed this sentiment, highlighting the practical benefits Marchioli brings: “Riccardo’s analytical expertise and his ability to integrate technology into player development and tactical planning are incredibly valuable. He brings a strategic mind that will push us to think differently and prepare even more thoroughly. We’re not just gaining a coach; we’re gaining a true collaborator who shares our passion for continuous improvement and achieving the extraordinary for Philippine football.”

Marchioli’s appointment is effective immediately. He will be integral to the Filipinas’ preparations for upcoming international engagements — ASEAN MSIG Serenity Cup 2025 and the AFC Women’s Asian Cup Finals 2026 Australia — as the team continues to build on its recent successes and strive for new milestones on the global stage.
