Philippines Face Singapore in AFF Suzuki Cup 2016 Opening Day

The Philippine Men’s Football National Team are raring to begin their AFF Suzuki Cup 2016 campaign against Singapore, tonight, November 19, 2016 at the Philippine Sports Stadium.

Coach Thomas Dooley was in the pre-match press conference yesterday and shared his thoughts on the tournament.

“Obviously excited for this big toutnarment biggest in years for (the) Philippines,” said Dooley. “We want to be successful we want to make people in Philippines happy. That’s means we have to win. As a coach everybody wants to iwn every game so it’ll be very interesting this weekend till next week. Looking forward to a great competition.”

The Philippines have been a regular fixture in the Suzuki Cup and have been in the semifinals on three straight occasions for the past six years.

“(The) level of confidence is high so I’m very pleased with how the team is reacting to last couple of weeks,” added Dooley. “We had really good energy, and can you see that in training, we’re actually on the right path to be successuful team. Very important to have chemistry everything is right.”

Despite being tagged as the one of the favorites to win the tournament, Dooley is just focused on the immediate assignment.

“Obviously we want to win the Suzuki Cup but I’m not thinkning of that now,” continued Dooley. (We are) only thinking about Singapore and we want to have a good start in the tournament.  We want to win obviously, we want to go as far as possible.”
