The Philippine Football Federation has announced the final squad of the Philippine Men’s Under-22 National Team for the upcoming 30th Southeast Asian Games Men’s U-22 Football Tournament, which kicks off this Monday, 25 November 2019 at the Rizal Memorial Football Stadium.
The Philippines is in Group A and will battle Cambodia, Malaysia, Myanmar, and Timor-Leste.
Twenty players were called up for the tournament. Among them are Azkals captain Stephan Schrock and defender Amani Aguinaldo as the team’s over-aged players.
The Philippines seek to match or even better its best showing in the biennial tournament since 1991 where they finished in fourth place.
Goran Milosevic is the head coach for the Philippines U22. Assisting him are Ernest Nierras, Hezirdan Ramadani and goalkeeping coach Milos Simic. Dan Palami is the Team Manager with Scott Cooper serving as Assistant Team Manager. The Philippines U22 team is supported by Philippine Sports Commission.
In preparation for the SEA Games, the PHI U22 took part in the Copa Paulino Alcantara 2019 where they finished third in their group behind Mendiola FC 1991 and eventual champions Ceres-Negros FC.
“We wish Philippines Under-22 National Team all the best in the 30th Southeast Asian Games,” said PFF president Mariano Araneta, Jr. “This will only be the fourth time that the country will host the SEA Games. Let us make sure that it will be a memorable one for the team as we compete with the best teams in the region.”
