Philippines WNT Head to Japan for Final Women’s Asian Cup Preparation

With just three weeks left until the AFC Women’s Asian Cup Jordan 2018 kicks off, the Philippine Women’s National Team flew to Osaka, Japan this afternoon for a training camp scheduled on 20-27 March 2018.

The Japan Camp is the team’s final preparation before they return to Manila and head to Amman, Jordan for the Women’s Asian Cup which kicks off on 6 April 2018.

Under the guidance of newly named Head Coach Rabah Benlarbi and Assistant Coaches Joyce Landagan and Steven Joseph Hoffman, 28 players will take part in the camp. Only 23 players will be in the final squad.

The mood was very positive for the members of the national training pool during their two-week training sessions held at the PFF National Training Pitch in Carmona, Cavite.

“We’ve been with (Coach Rabah) for two weeks now and we’ve learned a lot under him,” said skipper Patrice Impelido. “The coach know what he’s doing based on his past experience and it’s showing during our training.”

The Philippines are grouped with China PR, host Jordan, and Thailand. The top two teams from each group will advance to the knockout stage, and in turn qualify for the FIFA Women’s World Cup in 2019.
