The Philippine Football Federation (PFF) congratulates one of its member clubs, Stallion Laguna F.C., for making history by becoming the first Filipino club to reach the quarterfinals of the AFC Women’s Asian Champions League (WACL).
Weathering early setbacks against last year’s podium finishers Ho Chi Minh City of Vietnam and Melbourne City of Australia in their first two Group A outings, Stallion finished the group stage with authority, delivering a commanding 5–0 victory against Lion City Sailors of Singapore on November 19.
Halle Johnson opened the scoring in the 22nd minute with a header off a left-footed corner from Chandler McDaniel. McDaniel then struck in the 44th minute after receiving a squared pass from Tayla Christensen, who found her unmarked inside the box.
Christensen added a goal in the 75th minute, tapping in a clever heel pass from McDaniel, before doubling her tally in the 83rd minute with a lofted shot from 30 yards. McDaniel completed the rout with her brace in the 89th minute, finishing a through ball from Kaya Hawkinson in the buildup.
Stallion secured the final quarterfinal berth as the second-best third-place team across the three groups. Their three points and five goals scored allowed them to edge Group B’s East Bengal—who fell short by two goals—marking a proud moment for Philippine club football.
With Stallion Laguna now through to the WACL quarterfinals and Manila Digger set for their own continental campaign, Philippine club football continues to break new ground as the country looks ahead to an exciting 2025–26 season.
