The Philippine Women’s National Football Team (Filipinas) will play a two-game series against the New Zealand Football Ferns on November 29 and December 4, 2026, at Porirua Park in Wellington, as part of the team’s preparations for the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Brazil.
The Philippine Football Federation (PFF) is inviting Filipinos in New Zealand to come to the games and support the team.
“We have fantastic Filipino fans in New Zealand, and we would love to see as many of them as possible at Porirua Park. When the Filipino community fills the stands, it makes a real difference to the players. We invite families, friends, schools and community groups to come out and cheer for the Filipinas,” said PFF President John Anthony Gutierrez.
Tickets go on pre-sale to Football Whānau members on November 2, and general sale begins on November 4. Adult tickets cost $20, and tickets for children aged 14 and under cost $5, plus ticketing fees. Both games will be broadcast live and free on DAZN and TVNZ.
Head coach Mark Torcaso said the series gives the team another kind of opponent to prepare against.
“This is a great occasion for us to play Oceania’s best team and a team that is going to the World Cup. New Zealand is another different opponent that provides us with another different challenge. They are fast, strong, and dangerous in transition,” Torcaso said.
He said the Ferns have a new look. “We anticipate playing against a very different side. They have some new faces, fresh faces that will give them a different look, one that we are excited by and looking forward to.”
Torcaso said the team is glad to return to Wellington and thanked PFF for its support.
“It’s great for our girls to return to Wellington for this big occasion. The World Cup is a big competition and strong opposition like NZ will help with our preparations for the World Cup. I cannot thank the PFF enough for supporting us in returning to NZ to face a great World Cup opponent,” he said.
The series continues a busy international run for the Filipinas. In September, the team reached the quarterfinals of the 20th Asian Games in Nagoya, facing Japan, China, Hong Kong and Uzbekistan. In October, the team played two matches in Peru.
“The players and coaching staff have been working hard across several windows. We thank them for their commitment, and we thank the Filipino fans who stay up and travel to support them. We hope to see many of them in Wellington,” Gutierrez said.
