‘The Future Game’ tackled in AFC Pro Coaching License Module 2

The Philippine Football Federation (PFF) held the second module of the country’s first AFC Pro Coaching course during the last week of September 2026 at the Rizal Memorial Sports Complex in Manila.

The module, titled “The Future Game,” followed the opening module held in July. It brought together the 16 participating coaches from Luzon, Visayas, Mindanao, and overseas. The sessions combined lectures with guest presenters and work on the field.

The module covered four topics:

  • The modern game: An analysis of the present game, how it has changed over the last five years, and how those changes affect the modern coach.
  • The future game and the player of the future: What the game may look like in five years across the technical, tactical, physical and psychosocial areas, and how to prepare players for it.
  • The future coach: How to prepare coaches for the game of the future, and the traits, habits and skills they will need to stay effective.
  • The player as an individual: Relating individual players to the four-corner model, position-specific coaching and developing individual development plan (IDP) programs.

PFF thanks the Philippine Sports Commission (PSC), led by Chairman Patrick “Pato” Gregorio, for providing the venue and support for the course.

The AFC Pro Diploma is the highest coaching qualification offered by the Asian Football Confederation (AFC). The course runs over several residential modules across nearly a year.
