Third AFC ‘A’ Coaching Certificate Course Concludes in Manila

The Philippine Football Federation (PFF) concluded Part 2 of the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) ‘A’ Coaching Certificate Course held from 1-15 July 2018 at the Rizal Memorial Sports Complex in Manila.

This was the second part of the course after Part 1 was conducted last 14-28 June 2017 with 28 participants.

The 17 participants, including former national team players, and coaches from Australia, Belgium, Hong Kong, and Korea Republic tackled the tactical and advanced technical requirements of teams and team management to enhance the coaches’ understanding of the game at a high level.

The handling of the course was also assessed by AFC Coach Education Panel Member Kwok Ka Ming in line with the AFC Coaching Convention Regulations and Guidelines. The assessment was done to check whether that the PFF complies with the AFC Coaching Convention in conducting the AFC ‘A’ Coaching Certificate Course.

The assigned AFC Instructors were PFF Technical Director Jose Ariston Caslib and PFF Coaching Education Head Marlon Maro. The Rizal Memorial Football Stadium was used for the practical sessions while the Rizal Memorial Sports Complex Conference Room was used for the theory sessions.

“This is the third time in the last five years that the PFF hosted an AFC ‘A’ Coaching Certificate Course,” said PFF general secretary Atty. Edwin Gastanes. “We take pride that in South East Asia, only the Philippines and Singapore are the only countries that are authorized to offer the AFC ‘A’ Coaching Course. We hope that the AFC continues to permit the Philippines to conduct AFC coaching certificate courses which can provide better football coaches in the country and in Asia”
