Overview:
The Chief Legal Officer will be responsible for the overall supervision and direction of the services of the Legal Division.
Key Responsibilities:
• Provide expert legal advice to the Senior Management, Management Board and Committees as well as to bring legal risks and concerns to their attention
• Advise on contract status, legal risks and business terms of various agreements
• Research unique legal issues impacting the organization by identifying applicable statutes, judicial decisions, laws and codes and develop solutions to complex legal questions
• Keep abreast of legislative changes that may affect the company and its affiliates and adjust FIFA’s framework accordingly
• Perform pre-litigation work to minimize risks and maximize legal rights
• Development and monitoring of contracts
• Plan and implement various projects such as revision of statutes, codes and regulations, third party ownership etc.
• Drafting and negotiating of agreements and legal correspondence
• Supporting FIFA trademark registration and enforcement\
• Arrange and supervise outside attorneys who provide legal advise or representation in areas of special expertise or in litigation
Qualifications and Experience:
· A minimum experience of 10 years experience as a legal practitioner, including experience and exposure to contract law. Proven experience in intellectual property law.
· University degree in appropriate subject (or adequate training/vocational education)
· LL.B or J.D. from a recognized University
· Formal qualification in law with a license to practice law in a recognized legal jurisdiction
· Experience in international sports / event management
· Knowledge of even planning and event project management processes· Experience or knowledge of local culture will be an added benefit
· Strong IT skill including MS Office (Word, Excel, Visio, PowerPoint)
· Fluency in English and other languages are an added benefit
· Positive attitude, patience and persistence.
· Proven track record in managing complex projects, preferably international sports events.
Minimum of 6 years managing teams within the specified business area.
