The Philippine Football Federation took part in the celebration of the AFC Grassroots Day held in various venues all over the country last 14 May 2017.
The event, now on its fifth year, allows football enthusiasts of all ages to celebrate the continued awareness of football in the country, and all over Asia.
This year’s event was a resounding success as the Philippines saw a total of 2,078 children attend the event across 18 venues namely: Baguio, Camarines Norte, Laguna, Masbate, Quezon, Tarlac, Negros Oriental, Bukidnon, Butuan Agusan, Compostela Valley, Davao, Davao del Norte, Iligan-Lanao del Norte, North Cotabato, South Cotabato, Zamboanga, and Zamboanga del Sur – Pagadian and in the frontier area of Palawan.
PFF president Mariano Araneta hailed the efforts of its participating Regional Football Associations and their Grassroots Development Officers in AFC Grassroots Day and spreading football to various communities for the Filipino boys and girls to experience and enjoy.
“Grassroots football has always been an integral part of football development in the Philippines,” said PFF general secretary Atty. Edwin Gastanes. “The PFF is here to ensure that we continue to introduce the sport to young Filipinos and develop players from the grassroots level.”
