The 29th Southeast Asian Games campaign of both the Philippine Men’s Under-22 Team and the Philippine Women’s National Team ended last Thursday 24 August 2017 with contrasting results in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
The Men’s Under-22 Team defeated Timor Leste, 2-1, at the UM Arena. Jarvey Gayoso came big for the Philippines with the opening goal in the 13th minute and scored the winning goal in the fourth minute of added time.
The Women’s team, on the other hand, lost to Thailand, 3-1, in their final group match. Thailand raced to a 3-0 lead in the second half but Hali Long ensured the Women’s team held their head high after scoring the goal for the Philippines late in the match.
The Men’s U22 team finished Group B in fourth place with six points, while the Women’s team finished in fourth place with three points.
