The Philippine Football Federation, in cooperation with the Asian Football Confederation, has successfully hosted the year’s fourth AFC ‘C’ Coaching Certificate Course from 7 to 20 September 2017 in Manila.
There were 20 participants 18 from the Philippines one each from Turkey and Cameroon. Among the participants in the course is former Philippine Men’s National Team player Alvin Ocampo.
“The C license course has opened my eyes to a lot of questions on coaching and some of it were answered during the course,” recounted Ocampo. “Through this course, I really learned a lot especially on the coaching methodology. It will be a big help in proper planning for a coach.”
The AFC Instructors for the course were Mr. Jose Ariston Caslib and Ms. Letecia Bautista. The practical sessions were held at the BGC Turf Field in Taguig City and the DLSU-STC Turf Field in Canlubang, Laguna, while the theory sessions were held at the PFF House of Football.
“The participants (in the course) had a higher level understanding of the game, they were very interested during the course,” said Bautista. “They understood that this course should not be taken for granted given the questions they raised during the sessions.”
PFF general secretary Atty. Edwin Gastanes hailed the progress of the AFC ‘C’ Coaching Certificate Course. “We are delighted with the turnout in the AFC ‘C’ courses for the year,” said Gastanes. “There are increasing participants; the knowledge and wisdom they will learn from the course will be beneficial in their development as football coaches.”
