The De La Salle University Women’s Team were crowned champions of the 2016-2017 PFF Women’s League after a scintillating win over The Younghusband Football Academy last Saturday, 18 November 2017 at the PFF National Training Center in Carmona, Cavite.
The reigning UAAP Women’s Football champions swept the entire competition to finish the Women’s League with a perfect record of 39 points on the back of 13 straight wins. The University of Santo Tomas finished in second place with 27 points while Far Eastern University are in third place with 26 points.
La Salle had 8 different goalscorers in the title clinching win. Top scorer Kyra Dimaandal capped off a stellar season with four goals, while Nicole Andaya produced a hat-trick.
Saturday’s other matches saw Hiraya FC defeat Outkast FC, 3-1. Aiza Mondero, Vanessa Fabon, and Cecilia Dayrit scored for Hiraya while Barbie Sobrero scored for Outkast.
The other match saw Ateneo de Manila University blank Fuego España, 4-0. Julia Panganiban scored two goals while Tessa Bernardo and Marianne Caparros added a goal each for the Lady Eagles.
The final match of the season saw Far Eastern University defeat the University of the Philippines, 3-0, last 20 November at the FEU-FERN College. Portia Acibar, Kate Dacanay, and Suettie Simoy found the back of the net for FEU to finish in third place.
