Philippines Football League side Ceres Negros FC left it late to claim their second win in the AFC Cup over Myanmar side Shan United, 2-0, last Tuesday 6 March 2018 at the Pana-ad and Park Football Stadium in Bacolod, Negros Occidental.
Substitute Patrick Reichelt found the back of the net in the 79th minute. The forward was there to make the shot after Shan United failed to clear their lines.
Bienvenido Marañon capped off the match with a second goal in the 83rd minute. Mike Ott went past three defenders finding Marañon free in the box for the easiest of finishes.
Ceres now hold a three point lead at the top of Group F after Home United lost to Boeung Ket in the other match.
“The effort (from the players) was good and of course they gave everything,” said Ceres coach Risto Vidakovic. “There’s a lot we have to improve. We have to be more patient when we build up.“
Ceres face the same opposition on 14 March 2018 at the Thuwunna Stadium in Yangon, Myanmar.
