The Philippine Men’s National Team fought a brave Fiji side to win it, 3-2, last Thursday 22 March 2018 at the Rizal Memorial Stadium.
National team captain Phil Younghusband scored his 49th international goal from the penalty spot in the 29th minute.
Hikaru Minegishi doubled the advantage in the 51st minute. The winger latched on a curling effort to score his first international goal.
Kevin Ingreso added a third goal at the hour mark. The midfielder fired a volley from the edge of the box to the delight of the crowd.
However, Fiji mounted a comeback. Ame Votoniu pulled one back for the visitors and Roy Krishna scored from the spot.
Despite the mounting challenge, the Philippines held their own to claim the 3-2 win
The match served as the Philippines’ final preparation for their game against Tajikistan in the AFC Asian Cup UAE 2019 Qualifiers on Tuesday 27 March 2018.
