The Philippines Women’s National Team began their AFC Women’s Asian Cup Jordan 2018 campaign with a thrilling 2-1 win over host Jordan last Friday 6 April 2018 (Saturday morning 7 April 2018) at the Amman International Stadium in Amman, Jordan.
An own goal from Yasmeen Khair in the 51st minute was followed by Sarina Bolden’s goal in the 75th minute sparked the trademark Philippines comeback after they went down to a 15th minute strike from Maysa Jbarah.
Speaking right after the match, Philippines co-captain Tahnia Annis credited the hard work the girls put on against Jordan.
“I’m so proud of the girls (tonight). We didn’t like them scoring first, took the air from our sails but we came out harder. we wanted it more than them and that showed (with the result),” said Annis. “We played it really smart and it paid off.”
The Philippines next face China PR on Monday 9 April 2018 at 4:45 PM local time (9:45 PM Manila time).
