PFF president Mariano Araneta cited the efforts in the continuous development of Futsal in the country following the launch of the Allianz National Youth Futsal Invitational last Wednesday 25 April 2018.
The invitational, which kicks off on 27 April 2018, is organized by the Henry V. Moran Foundation, in partnership with Allianz PNB Life Insurance Inc., and in coordination with the Philippine Football Federation (PFF), provides a venue for aspiring young Filipino players to showcase their talents and vie for slots at the Allianz Junior Football Camp, which is affiliated with German side Bayern Munich.
The PFF Regional Football Associations (RFAs) will coordinate with the orgranizers in implementing the tournament for Boys and Girls Under-12s, Under-14s, and Under-16s. The invitational will be held in the following areas nationwide: Iloilo, Dipolog, Baguio, Metro Manila and Laguna, Naga, Bacolod, Cebu, Davao, and Cagayan de Oro. The national finals is on 2-3 June in Sta. Cruz, Laguna.
This will be the second year of the invitational, albeit in a larger scale. Last year’s edition saw 5 kids fly to Bali to train with other players across Asia with 2 of them making it to Munich for a camp with Bayern Munich.
“The PFF is thankful for this grassroots initiative for futsal spearheaded by the Henry Moran Foundation and Allianz,” said Araneta. “Most of the international football stars started their career through futsal. We hope that through this effort, we can have the best upcoming players that will represent the Philippines in the future.”
PFF Board of Governors Member Erwin Protacio, PFF technical director Aris Caslib, Philippines Boys Under-15 head coach Chieffy Caligdong, and PFF Futsal Department Head Kevin Goco were also in attendance.
