During the course of the AFC Women’s Asian Cup Jordan 2018, PFF officials attended the first ever FIFA Women’s Football Conference last 15-17 April in Amman, Jordan.
Hosted by the Asian Football Confederation (AFC), the conference outlined the proper direction for member associations to develop women’s football in their respective countries through a sustainable women’s football development program.
PFF general secretary Atty. Edwin Gastanes was invited as one of the panelists during the plenary session and talked about the development of women’s football in the country in recent years and how FIFA can help funding the developing football nations as regards to women’s football.
“There has been an upsurge in interest in football in the recent years,” said Gastanes. “Focus on women’s football will continue. We are happy to have qualified for the Women’s Asian Cup here in Jordan because it brings focus to women’s football in the Philippines and in the ASEAN region.”
Chairperson of the PFF Women’s Committee, Ms. Lalaine Sarmiento and Philippine Women’s National Team assistant coach Joyce Landagan also attended the conference.
