The officials and staff of the Philippine Football Federation (PFF) join the Filipino football community in extending condolences to the family of former Senator of the Republic Edgardo J. Angara who passed away last Sunday, 13 May 2018.
Angara, PFF Honorary Chairman of the Board for 2016-2019, helped intensify grassroots football in the Philippines. Among others, he brought in Real Madrid Foundation coaches for month-long football clinics in the countrysides for several years. Angara headed the PFF delegation to the 66th FIFA Congress held in Mexico City in May 2016.
A football enthusiast, the former senator is recognized for his steadfast efforts of promoting the sport of football in the country.
“We mourn the loss of former Senator Edgardo J. Angara,” said PFF president Mariano Araneta Jr. “His legacy in promoting football in the country is greatly cherished and will not be forgotten. “We are deeply saddened with the passing of Senator Angara, a true statesman and a nation-builder,” said PFF general secretary Atty. Edwin Gastanes.
