Ceres Negros FC head to the second leg of the AFC Cup Zonal semi-final with Yangon United holding a two goal cushion ahead of Wednesday’s match at the Thuwunna Stadium in Yangon, Myanmar.
In the first leg held in Bacolod last week, Bienvenido Marañon scored twice and Patrick Reichelt added another to put the defending PFL champions 3 goals up at the half. Manuel Herrera added an insurance fourth goal but Yangon answered back with a Sekou Sylla brace.
A win will send Ceres back to the AFC Cup ASEAN Zonal final where they will defend their crown.
“Our motivation to get to the (ASEAN Zonal) final is enough,” said Ceres head coach Risto Vidakovic. “We had a good result (in Bacolod), but we have to prepare for this because it’s a big game for us.”
“(The second leg) is just about how much we want to go to the final and repeat what we have experienced last year,” said Ceres skipper Martin Steuble.
