Ceres Negros FC’s AFC Cup campaign ended with a 2-0 defeat to Singaporean side Home United last Wednesday 8 August 2018 at the Jalan Besar Stadium in Singapore.
After last week’s 1-1 draw in Bacolod, Negros Occidental, the 2018 Philippines Football League champions needed to win the tie to advance to the Inter-zone semi-final.
The Negros side had a good start to the match, but lost forward Patrick Reichelt following a collision with Home United goalkeeper Rudy Khairullah in the 34th minute.
Goals from Shakir Hamzah in the 62nd minute and Song Ui-young in the 74th minute allowed Home United to exact revenge on Ceres, who defeated Singaporean side in the same stage last year.

Edwin Gastanes. “Their run this year from the AFC Champions League Play-off rounds until the AFC Cup ASEAN zonal finals is nothing short of remarkable and will inspire other PFL clubs to take the opportunity of playing against the best club teams in Asia.”
