Hiraya FC banked on Marie Cadayona’s 73rd minute equalizer to claim their first point in the PFF Women’s League after a 1-1 stalemate with Far Eastern University last Sunday 9 September 2018 at the PFF National Training Center in Carmona, Cavite.
FEU started the match strong and almost had the breakthrough early on if not for the heroics of Hiraya captain Haya Ibarra in goal with two crucial saves. However, Sophia Dagaraga lifted FEU to a half-time 1-0 lead after finding the back of the net in the 30th minute.
Hiraya’s half-time substitute Natasha Alquiros sparked Hiraya’s fight back. The midfielder provided the assist for Cadayona’s equalizer from the corner kick. Hiraya almost won it at the end but Camille Rodriguez’s chance in the dying minutes was denied by the upright.
The first match saw the University of Santo Tomas defeat Ateneo de Manila University, 3-0. Shelah Mae Cadag continued her fiery form scoring her 12th goal of the season in the 41st minute.
Mary Joy Indac and Charisa Lemoran added the scoring touches for UST in the 71st and 89th minute to remain at the top of the standings with 9 points, ahead of OutKast FC on goal difference.
