The Philippines Girls Under-16 Team began their AFC U16 Women’s Championship Qualifiers Round 1 campaign with a 4-0 win over Nepal last Wednesday 19 September 2018 at the Halchowk Stadium in Kathmandu, Nepal.
Captain Maria Lazo netted two goals in 42nd and 45th minutes to give the Philippines a 2-0 lead at half-time.
Keanne Alamo made it 3-0 in the 76th minute before Mikaela Villacin completed the rout with the Philippines’ fourth goal in the 82nd minute.
The win put the Philippines on top of Group E with 3 points, only ahead of second placed Myanmar on goal difference. The top team from each group, along with two best second placed teams, will advance to the second round of the qualifiers in February.
The Philippines will face Malaysia in the second match of the qualifiers on Friday 21 September 2018 also in the same venue. Kick off is at 11:30 AM local time (1:45 PM Manila time).
