The Philippine Football Federation organized and conducted the first PFF Mindanao Football Summit last 6 October 2018 at the Park Inn by Radisson in Davao City.
Led by PFF president Mariano Araneta Jr., vice president Hon. Joselito Piñol, general secretary Atty. Edwin Gastanes, and hosted by the Davao Regional Football Association, the Summit highlighted football developmental concerns brought on by the Regional Football Associations (RFAs) in Mindanao particularly on the development of the tehcnical skills of players and coaches and the proposed measures that can be implemented
“The PFF Mindanao Summit was a timely opportunity to reach out to our Regional Football Associations in Mindanao,” said Araneta. “The feedback among the RFAs from the summit has been very positive and we look forward to the improvements of the development of players and coaches in the region.”
PFF technical director Jose Ariston Caslib presented to the 16 out of 17 RFAs present the steps needed to be done by each RFA to develop players and coaches. Among the ideas brought forward to the RFAs are the following: the adoption and formation of a strategic plan, continuous participation in PFF-sanctioned/regional tournaments and courses, and the implementation of the Grassroots Courses and Festivals.
“The PFF will require all RFAs to engage specific key personnel in their respective associations and to have a short-term and long-term development programs for the next few years,” said Caslib. “This in turn, will benefit the whole region.”
