Captain Phil Younghusband netted his 52nd international goal in the 27th minute. Stephan Schrock perfectly placed his cross to the path of the forward to finish with ease.
A low effort from Martin Steuble doubled the Philippines lead in the 32nd minute. Carlos de Murga added a third goal in the 68th minute from the set piece.
Timor Leste netted twice inside the last 20 minutes to set up a tight finish, but the Philippines held on to claim their second win of the tournament.

The Philippines will face Thailand in their third Group B match on Wednesday 21 November 2018 at the Pana-ad Park and Footbal Stadium in Bacolod City, Negros Occidental.
