The Philippine Football Federation (PFF) has been conferred by the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) the AFC Coaching Convention – A Level membership.
The A Level membership allows the PFF, as a AFC Coaching Convention member, to offer and conduct the ‘A’ and ‘B’ coaching certificate courses at the AFC-approved level. The PFF joins the Japan Football Association (JFA) as one of a few AFC Member Associations that can conduct the ‘A’ and ‘B’ coaching courses on their own.
Up until this year, the PFF has conducted the AFC ‘A’ and ‘B’ courses under the auspices of the AFC.
Last July 2018, the AFC conducted an assessment visit of the PFF’s application for the A Level Membership in line with the AFC Coaching Convention Regulations and Guidelines 2018. The AFC Coaching Convention provides guidelines in raising the standards of coaching education in the continent.
Beginning 2019, the PFF will formally conduct the PFF ‘A’ and ‘B’ coaching courses, which shall be equivalent to the AFC ‘A’ and ‘B’ coaching courses.
“We are thankful for the award given to us by the AFC. It only shows that we are on the right track in developing coaches, not only Filipino coaches, but also Asian coaches,” said PFF Technical Director Jose Ariston Caslib. “It shows our competence in designing the program for coaching education. It also shows the quality of our approach, and that we are able to produce competent Asian level instructors. Such recognition manifests only the effort of the PFF Technical Department and the entire organization of the PFF.”
“We congratulate PFF Technical Department for this achievement and also thank the Asian Football Confederation for bestowing the PFF the AFC Coaching Convention – A Level Membership,” said PFF general secretary Atty. Edwin Gastanes. “Developing coaches has been one of the PFF’s main efforts raising the profile of the beautiful game, and through this grant, we can develop more coaches, Filipino coaches, Asian coaches, and other coaches from other countries, here in the Philippines. It is a significant milestone in Philippine football technical initiatives.
