The Philippine Men’s National Team remains in the hunt for a spot to the knockout stages of the AFC Asian Cup UAE 2019.
With only one match remaining in Group C, the Azkals look to seal their place among the last 16 teams in the competition against Kyrgyz Republic on Match Day 3. At the same time, the results from the other groups must work in favor of the Philippines to ensure progress to the next round.
Below are the scenarios needed for the Philippines to qualify for the next round.
With Bahrain, as one of the best third placed teams, joining the United Arab Emirates and Thailand in the next round following last night’s results, the Philippines must win their match against Kyrgyz Republic, and hope that 2 out of the 4 scenarios below happens.
- GROUP B – Both Jordan and Australia must at least draw their last group matches in order for Syria and Palestine to remain at 2 points.
- GROUP D – Vietnam and Yemen have 0 points and will face each other. Yemen has a -8 goal difference. Yemen must draw to Vietnam. A win for Yemen is great but should not be by more than 5 goals.
- GROUP E – DPR Korea and Lebanon have 0 points and will face each other. DPR Korea has a -10 goal difference. A draw will be enough, but if DPR Korea wins, it should not be by a 7 goal margin.
- GROUP F – Turkmenistan and Oman have 0 points and will face each other. Turkmenistan has a -5 goal difference. A draw is good, but if Turkmenistan wins, it should not be a 2 goal gap or more.
