Philippine professional clubs Ceres Negros FC and Kaya FC-Iloilo began their Asian campaign in the AFC Cup 2019 Group Stages over the past few days.
2018 PFL champions Ceres started out strong in Group G following a 3-2 win over Burmese side Shan United last Tuesday 26 February 2019 at the Pana-ad Park and Football Stadium in Bacolod City, Negros Occidental.
OJ Porteria came big for the Negros side, finding the back of the net on two occasions in the 19th and 87th minutes, with Bienvenido Maranon scoring from the spot in the 37th minute, to put Ceres on the board with the full 3 points.
2018 Copa Paulino Alcantara winners Kaya were forced to settle to a 1-1 draw against Laotian side Lao Toyota FC in their Group H encounter last Wednesday 27 February 2019 at the New Laos National Stadium in Vientiane, Laos.
Jovin Bedic broke the deadlock for Kaya in the 18th minute and were already on their way to a win away from home, but they were denied with an 87th minute equalizer from the hosts to split the points.
Ceres will face Vietnamese Becamex Binh Duong on 12 March while Kaya will host Singaporean side Home United on 13 March.
