Match week 2 of the PFF U15 Boys National Championship 2019 continued the trend of exciting match-ups in Groups A and D last weekend.
Group A finally got underway as the team from Cordillera RFA came away with a 3-2 win over Olongapo City-Zambales FA at the Benguet State University in La Trinidad, Benguet. Cordillera had three goals scorers in Nimitz Dulay (36’), Iver Bangaden (44’), and Kervin Tacdoy (77’). Alexander Alvizo netted two goals in the 47th and 69th minutes for Olongapo City-Zambales.
The team from Pangasinan marked their debut in the competition with a come-from-behind 2-1 win over the team from Central Luzon FA at Urdaneta City High School in Urdaneta, Pangasinan. Central Luzon’s Nicholai Hufana opened the scoring in the 21st minute, but Pangasinan’s Michael Antonio and Angelo Peralta found the back of the net in the 35th and 79th minutes to complete the turnaround and claim the three points.
The teams from Cordillera RFA and Pangasinan are currently tied in first place with 3 points apiece.
Group D saw the team from Federated FA of Masbate inch closer to a berth in the National Championship Round after a draw and a win over the team from RFA Camarines Norte.
Billy Cornal (4’) and Gian Francisco (80’) scored for Masbate while Yuri Dargantes (36’) and Irvin Nobleza (90+2’) netted for Camarines Norte in the first meeting which ended in a 2-2 draw.
The second meeting saw Masbate turn it up a notch to beat Camarines Norte, 6-3. Shan Lorque led the team from Masbate with a hat-trick in the seventh, 39th, and 45th minutes. Reymark Suplico added two more goals in the 22nd and 44th minutes, while Carl Zaragoza added a goal in the 34th minute. The team from Camarines Norte did not waver as Andrei Luntok delivered a hat-trick in the 47th, 49th, and 90th minutes.
The teams from Central Bicol RFA and Legazpi-Albay RFA figured in a 3-1 win for Central Bicol in the other Group D tie. Carl Santiago (52’ & 65’) and Paolo Delos Santos (19’) scored for Central Bicol, while John Asfa (19’) converted for Legazpi-Albay.
The team from Federated FA of Masbate remained on top of Group D with 10 points, followed by the team from RFA Camarines Norte with 4 points. The teams from Central Bicol and Legazpi-Albay round up the standings.
