The Philippine Women’s National Team collected their second win in the AFF Women’s Championship 2019 after a scintillating 7-0 over Timor-Leste last Saturday 17 August 2019 at the Institute of Physical Education in Chonburi, Thailand.
Midfielder Camille Rodriguez (23’ and 45+3’) and defender Hali Long (62’ (PK) and 76’) again claimed two goals to raise their goal tally to four goals apiece.
Quinley Quezada (5’), Sara Castañeda (13’), and Charisa Lemoran (90+2’) added a goal each in the win, which sent the Philippines on top of Group A with six points.
“Timor-Leste showed that they can play good football and they made it hard for us,” said head coach Marnelli Dimzon after the match. “We created a lot of chances, but we still need to improve.”
The Philippines will face tournament hosts Thailand on Wednesday 21 August 2019.
