Philippine Men’s National Team captain Stephan Schrock has been selected by the ASEAN Football Federation (AFF) as one of the recipients of the AFF Best XI Award during the AFF Awards 2019 held Friday night, 8 November 2019 in Hanoi, Vietnam.
Schrock, who made his debut for the Philippine Men’s National Team in 2011, has been influential for both club and country this year.
With the Azkals, he was named team captain in their maiden AFC Asian Cup in UAE last January. Currently, the midfielder is also an integral part in their FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 and AFC Asian Cup China 2023 Preliminary Joint Qualification Round 2 campaign..
On the club level, Schrock led his team, Ceres Negros FC, to an unbeaten season en route to a third straight Philippines Football League title last October and another run to the AFC Cup Zonal Semifinal last May.
This is Schrock’s second individual award this year after being named as Golden Ball Awardee at the conclusion of the Philippines Football League.
“We congratulate Stephan Schrock on his award as one of the AFF Best XI Awardees,” said PFF president Mariano Araneta, Jr. “May this award serve as inspiration to young players who one day aspire to play in the top level of football competitions.”
